Reserve

The design commission was to create a new world class upscale contemporary wine bar using three stories of a ninety year old historic bank building located on a busy downtown intersection in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The challenge was a logistical one - fitting the program into limited space and supporting the operations of the bar restaurant.  Our intent was to keep the original grand two-story open bank space while providing enough seating to maintain the planned guest count.

The space exudes an energetic playful mix of old and new. Historic features were refurbished and mixed with contemporary new designs.  A variety of settings and moods were created to offer different social settings ranging from active highly social to intimate and private.  All design descisions were made to promote the ultimate goal, create a place where wine is the focus.
